Areas of Interest:

Development of new materials for fuel cell applications,
including electrolyte materials. Preparation and manipulation of nano-crystalline oxides.

Novel compositions for electrode components, coating technology for component manufacture.
·
Development of modular,
small-scale gas processing systems for hydrogen.
·
Biomass conversion, integration
with fuel cells.
·
Extensive
publications on nano structured materials, thin films
preparation and characterisation.
·
The group is
heavily involved in industrial and EU funded projects on development of
hydrogen production technologies and production of chemicals by catalytic
processing.
·
Co-ordinator of
EU project on intensified Hydrogen production technology.
·
A principal
partner in €22m EU-funded integrated project on Hydrogen as an energy carrier.
·
Extensive
international partnerships with large energy and chemicals companies, research
institutes and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Multi-disciplinary group consisting of post-doctoral
researchers, technicians and Senior Fellows with extensive
processing/technology industry experience.
Laboratory facilities including micro-reactors,
preparation facilities, catalyst and materials characterisation facilities.
MSc course on “Processing
Technologies and Business Management” has module on sustainable energies,
covering fuel cells, sustainable hydrogen production
