A Fuel Cell Vision for the UK
The Fuel Cell Vision for the UK, published in 2003, highlights
the benefits to the UK in taking a leading role in fuel cell development and
deployment. It defines a pathway for the development of fuel cells in the UK and
explores the key elements of that pathway. A series of recommendations for
realising the Vision are included.
The Vision was developed with the full engagement of industry, government and
academia. A comprehensive process of consultation involved discussions with the
fuel cells UK Steering Group, individual submissions and a series of workshops
around the UK. In total, over 150 UK fuel cells stakeholders provided input to
the development of the Vision.
Some key steps emerging from the Vision and progressed by Fuel Cells UK were:
-
To establish a dialogue with the Low Carbon Vehicle
Partnership: determining
which initiatives would materially encourage the deployment of fuel cell
vehicles in the UK,
-
To identify groups to engage with to ensure that appropriate frameworks are in
place to encourage the development and deployment of fuel cell distributed power
generation in the UK, and
-
To build a dialogue with organisations such as the Environmental Innovation
Advisory Group to inform Government on how best to assist the fuel cell effort
in the UK.
